When we're in our 20's people tell us that we have all the time in the world to figure out what we're going to do with our lives. The we hit 30 and they expect us to have it all figured out. Well, when I was 31 I asically ended up trading in my entire life in Chicago to move to New York. One of my biggest thoughts/fears was "am I starting this too late?" In some ways

I'm the worst

So winter has finally turned to spring in NYC and I see that I've only posted twice this year. Keeping this blog current was one of my New Years Resolutions (and probably a more realistic resolution than say, doing yoga every day (or anything workout related, sigh)). So here I am, attempting to be a better blogger. I think a big thing that would probably help me blog more would be having a bit more of a schedule/things that I post on a consistent basis so I get a bit more in the habit of

Let's Play A Game

Let's play a game- Which is lamer? Going to a singles' party alone on Valentine's day because you haven't lived in NYC very long and no one you know is single. OR Staying home on Valentine's Day to watch the new season of House of Cards on Netflix? Tough question because while there's the (extreemly slim) possibility of meeting someone great if you leave your apartment, there's a 100% chance of seeing something great on TV if you don't. But after spending a month in Chicago I'm back! And, trying to dedicate myself to writing more. A lot has happened sine I last wrote, in addition to spending the holidays with my friends and family in Chicago (which was wonderful) I have launched my e-commerce website and have already started filling orders! I'm also firming some exciting things up with some advertising and charity partners. I've also moved from the Upper East

Six Things

In light of the facebook lists that have been going going around, I thought I'd share mine on the blog. So, here are 6 facts of varying importance about me. 1. I have rescued and nursed back to health multiple bunnies multiple times. I am basically the bunny whisperer. 2. Aside from changing the polish, my toenails have been continuously painted since 1994. My fingernails aren't far behind. 3. I spent 8 weeks one summer backpacking all over the west and north west. 4. I've walked in the park about five times a week for the last four months and it never fails that I see something new each time I'm there. Amazing public spaces like this make living in large cities so much more pleasant. I honestly can't imagine that I would enjoy living in New York without it. ~M

On Pride

Since I first came to New York in July and I only planned on being here for three months I didn't really pack any winter clothes. My parents came to visit in September so I had them bring a few sweaters but this still wasn't a "permanent" move. So this sets the stage for what has become a stupid point of pride. I decided that it would be silly for my parents to mail me a winter coat where there were only two months of potentially cold weather before I was coming home for Thanksgiving. So every

Why NY

As I said in my first post (and as you could probably guess from the name of the blog), I haven't been in New York for very long so I thought I'd talk a little about what brought me here and why I decided to stay. I moved to NYC for my job (I'm launching my own lingerie company) because the truth is doing that in Chicago was impossible. I spend a year trying to deny that reality but sadly, at this point, its true. There simply aren't enough factories (ie any) that have the capability to work

New York, I Love You

I bought this domain name on a whim when I moved to New York in July. I'm not really sure why since I haven't ever been successful at keeping a personal blog (thought I do keep one for work) and it was only supposed to be a temporary move. But, after a few months I've found I just can't leave. So last week I decided to take my relationship with New York to the next level. I signed a year long lease in the East Village. We're entering long term relationship teritory here. Simply put, I've fallen
